Is group sex a myth, or does it actually happen? Is it more common amongst gay men than it is amongst heterosexuals? I don’t claim to know the right answers to these questions, but I intend to put forth a few theories concerning them. First off, a definition of gay group sex so we’re all thinking on the same wavelength. The technical definition of group sex is sexual activity involving more than two members. This means that although the threesome has its very own descriptive term it would still fall into the category of group sex. For the purposes of this article all references to group sex are meant to describe sexual acts involving more than two people, although you can assume I’m talking about more than threesomes most of the time.

It has been speculated by high thinking people that group sex is in fact not something people practice at all, especially in high numbers (10 people, 15, etc.). The arguments contend that group sex is more a creation of pornography and not really practiced amongst average people (whatever average means). I would argue that the presence of group sex in pornography is the greatest evidence that it is in fact practiced amongst average people. If there were no desire or demand for it why would people make group sex pornography in the first place? I know you can argue that people watch the porn so they don’t have to actually have the group sex, but when have you known a human to behave in that manner? This is especially true if you consider men, who have never been able to properly quell their sexual desires no matter how well they quench those desires with porn or any other indirect stimulation.

That leads me right into my second contention that group sex takes place more often among gay men than it does among heterosexuals. Of course, this doesn’t hold up if we’re talking about pure numbers, but if you were to break it down into percentages I’m quite certain gay men would be having much more group sex. If you think about it, women have always been the ones to corral men, to save them from their darker desires. A wife, provided she’s healthy, can turn her husband away from his darker desires to sodomize her every night or cheat on her with the babysitter every week. Men need this kind of guidance because we’re guided by the primal, uncontrollable hormone that is testosterone. It makes us do crazy things, most of which have to do with our penises. The chief reason I believe gay men have more group sex is because there’s no one to convince them otherwise. Gay men are simply responding to their programming when they engage in group sex sessions; they literally can’t help themselves. Plus, it stands to reason that the more people that are involved with sex the more arousing it will be. I say carry on with your group sex; just make sure to use protection.
